NYC SST Card
Local Law 196 · DOB Training Connect
The NYC Site Safety Training (SST) card is a DOB-mandated credential required under Local Law 196. Any construction worker on a NYC site that requires a Site Safety Plan must have one. Workers need 40 hours of DOB-approved training; supervisors, site safety coordinators, and site safety managers need 62 hours. Without a valid SST card you cannot legally work on a qualifying site.
See SST 40-Hour Package →A permanent NYC SST card is valid for five years from the date of issuance. Within 12 months before your card expires you must complete an 8-hour worker or 16-hour supervisor refresher to renew it. If you let it lapse beyond 12 months the DOB may require you to retake the full training bundle.
Yes. Once you have 10 hours of OSHA training you are eligible for a Temporary SST Card that lets you work on qualifying job sites for up to six months. During that window you must complete the remaining 30 hours to obtain a permanent card. Fast Track TLG will guide you through every step.
Yes. As a fully authorized NYC DOB training provider, Fast Track TLG syncs all completion data directly to DOB Training Connect. Your profile typically updates to Active within 24–48 hours of finishing class.
Once expired, your DOB Training Connect status drops to Expired and you lose the legal right to work on qualifying NYC sites immediately — there is no grace period. Call us at (718) 366-8000 to schedule a renewal course before your card lapses.

English & Spanish · Weekends & Evenings
OSHA 30 is a 30-hour safety leadership course by the U.S. Department of Labor. It covers workplace hazard recognition, fall protection, scaffolding, electrical safety, struck-by and caught-between hazards, PPE, and OSHA regulations. It counts toward the NYC SST 40-hour requirement.
See OSHA 30 course details →OSHA requires the 30 hours to be completed over multiple sessions; the program typically takes longer than the stated 30 hours when factoring in exercises and assessment. Fast Track TLG offers flexible weekday, evening, and weekend schedules to fit around your work hours.
Yes. After completing OSHA 30 at Fast Track TLG you receive a DOL-recognized OSHA 30 completion card. Physical cards are typically mailed by the Department of Labor within 7–10 business days. Your digital record updates immediately.
OSHA 30 goes significantly deeper than OSHA 10. Where OSHA 10 provides basic hazard awareness, OSHA 30 covers supervisory responsibilities, safety program development, confined spaces, cranes and rigging hazards, health hazards in construction, ergonomics, and more — making it the standard for foremen and lead workers.
Yes. Fast Track TLG offers fully Spanish-language OSHA 30 classes taught by bilingual instructors with real NYC job-site experience. Bilingual English/Spanish sessions are also available.
Scaffold Certification
SCA-211 · 4, 16 & 32 Hours
SCA-211 is a 4-hour NYC DOB-approved course that certifies workers to use supported scaffolds — frame, tube-and-coupler, and system scaffolds. It is required under Local Law 52 and NYC Building Code Chapter 33 for any worker whose job places them on a supported scaffold at any height in New York City.
See scaffold course details →Yes. Regardless of trade, if your work places you on a supported scaffold at any height in NYC you must hold a valid SCA-211 certificate. This applies to painters, masons, electricians, ironworkers, and laborers alike.
The Scaffold User Card must be renewed every 4 years to remain legally authorized to work on a supported scaffold in NYC. Fast Track TLG offers renewal courses at our Brooklyn training center.
Supported scaffolds are built from the ground up — frame, pump-jack, ladder-jack. Suspended scaffolds are hung from the structure above — swing stages, outrigger beams. The 4-hour SCA-211 covers supported scaffolds. If you operate or supervise suspended scaffolds you need the separate 16-hour or 32-hour suspended scaffold course.
Workers who erect, dismantle, alter, or repair supported scaffolds — not just use them — must complete the 32-hour installer/remover course in addition to the 4-hour user course. Scaffold companies and general contractors frequently require this for crew leads.
Flagger Certification
NYC DOT · Traffic Control
The 4-hour Flagger certification is required for workers who direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic in or near active work zones on NYC streets and highways. It is mandated by the NYC DOT and covers traffic control principles, flagger positioning, hand signals, and emergency procedures.
See flagger course details →The NYC Work Zone Flagger certification is valid for 3 years. Fast Track TLG offers the initial 4-hour course and renewal training at our Brooklyn center.
Flagger training is required when work affects public traffic flow — street-level excavations, utility work, lane closures, and sidewalk shed installations that redirect pedestrians. For strictly interior private construction, the flagger credential is typically not required.
Silica Hazard Awareness
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1153 · 2 SST Hours
Fast Track TLG offers silica safety training covering OSHA's crystalline silica standard for construction (29 CFR 1926.1153). Workers learn what silica dust is, which tasks create dangerous exposure — cutting concrete, sawing, grinding, jackhammering — the health risks of silicosis, and how to use engineering controls and PPE to limit exposure.
See silica course details →Any worker regularly engaged in tasks that disturb silica-containing materials — concrete cutting, sawing, grinding, drilling, and demolition — must receive silica hazard awareness training per OSHA's silica standard. It also counts as 2 hours toward the NYC SST 40-hour card.
Yes. The 2-Hour Silica Exposure Prevention course is a DOB-approved SST elective and counts toward your 40-hour Worker SST Card or 62-hour Supervisor SST Card total.
Supervisor SST Card
62 Hours · Local Law 196
The Supervisor SST Card is a 62-hour credential required under Local Law 196 for construction supervisors, site safety coordinators, and site safety managers on qualifying NYC job sites. It builds on the 40-hour Worker SST with supervisory-level safety management, emergency action planning, and site coordination.
See Supervisor SST Package →Any individual acting in a supervisory role on a qualifying NYC construction site — including general foremen, construction superintendents, site safety coordinators (SSC), and site safety managers (SSM) — is required to hold a valid Supervisor SST Card under Local Law 196.
The Supervisor SST Card must be renewed every five years by completing a 16-hour Supervisor SST Refresher course. Fast Track TLG offers both in-person and online renewal options scheduled throughout the month.
Fast Track TLG's 62-Hour Supervisor SST Package provides the full 62 hours required for the Supervisor SST Card. 30 hours come from OSHA 30 Construction and the remaining 32 hours come from a combination of DOB-approved online SST courses. All credits sync directly to DOB Training Connect.
The 5-Card Program
OSHA 30 · SST · Scaffold · Flagger · Silica
The Fast Track 5-Card Program is a complete NYC construction safety certification bundle: OSHA 30, SST 40-Hour Card, Scaffold User SCA-211, Flagger Traffic Control, and Silica Awareness — the five certifications most NYC employers require before they will put you on a job site. It is the fastest path from zero to fully qualified.
See the 5-Card Program →Most students complete all five certifications within a few weeks following our structured class schedule. We offer weekday, evening, and weekend sessions so working students can earn all five cards without gaps in employment.
Yes. Combined, the five cards satisfy the full 40-hour NYC SST Worker card requirement under Local Law 196 and add the Scaffold, Flagger, and Silica credentials that most general contractors require as well.
Yes. Fast Track TLG offers the complete 5-Card Program in Spanish with bilingual instructors. All DOB credits and OSHA cards are identical regardless of instruction language.
